Although I have started a process to translate most of the content of this website, I am afraid to admit that at this moment only a little part of it has already been translated to English. You possibly already know how difficult is to mantain your own personal and professional site as well as updating content in a regular basis, so imagine how difficult it is to do it in three different languages! I hope that in the near future most of the content will be available in that language, but till then, all of those who are willing to read about my thoughts or experiences (I am assuming that there will be someone, somewhere) you can visit the site in Spanish and use automated translators such as Google Translator.
However, if you are interested in a certain article and you utterly need it to be translated please let me know and I'll try my best to do it.
Thanks for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.
Coordination of Scalae's new website, made by Crea't and Kings of Mambo. The goal of the new website was to gather and order all the content that had been generated since scalae's creation in 2004, which was previously divided into two different blogs, in order to display it in an easy and friendly way to our users, as well as adding institutional information and give everything a unitarian and professional appearence.
Additionally, new information types were created, such as the profiles (which show all the information related to a certain person or studio), the agenda was completely redesigned and many tasks were automated.
During all this process team members of scalae (Laura Acosta, Berta Blasi and myself) worked hard and side by side with Carlos González (Crea't) and Josep Ortega (KoM) as if we were part of a single team.
Amongst all the new website's features I would like to emphasize the following ones:
Even though the big amount of podcast generated since year 2004, the process of editing, publishing and broadcasting was completely manual and took quite a lot of time to accomplish from the begining to the end. There's no suprise, then, that the new webiste turned into a working tool that automated all the involved processes of creating thumbnails, xml files, broadcasting, download stats...) except the process of editing the audio. Additionally a little multimedia player was added as to let readers play and pause the audio without needint to previously download it.
All the contents are tagged and classified in a consistent way according to the people involved, subject, keywords... in order to display related content. This content is automatically selected according to that meta-information yet at the same time can be manually added if needed.
A new feature that allows a better communication with our readers is the possibility to make bulk sending of emails to all subscribers that had opted-in. The process of sending emails to large amounts of recipients turns into a very easy and painless process
One of the newest features is the managing of featured content by using banners. The system includes three themes of different sizes (each of one fit perfectly in the general layout grid) in which any dragged image adjusts to its size and links wherever is specified. Transition between banners are automatically generated.
All those improvements, as well as the obvious visual improvements and the usage of an own domain, dramatically improved the previously used blogs (hosted at blogger.com and independently managed) which resulted in an important qualitative improvement in scalae's services and image.
